In May 1999 Lopez released her first debut single, "If You Had My Love", as she began to ready her first album. After a year away from the music scene, Lopez released her fourth studio album, ‘Rebirth’ in 2005. Although debuting and peaking at number two in the US, the album quickly fell off the charts. Bordertown, a film based on the Female homicides in Ciudad Juárez, made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2006. Lopez, who also acts as the film's producer, stars as Lauren Adrian, an American news reporter for the Chicago Sentinel who wants to be assigned to the Iraq front-lines to cover the war. Their two-and-half-year relationship was splashed across the media regularly and the press feasted on one particular story which saw Lopez and Combs involved in a gunfire brawl at a New York club in December 1999. Only a month after her break up with Sean "P. Daddy" Combs, Lopez struck up a relationship with back-up dancer Cris Judd that she met on the set for her video "Love Don't Cost a Thing." While Lopez saw over $300 million in sales in 2004 on her clothing line alone, her entrepreneurial ventures didn't get in the way of her recording a new record. Following her break-up with Affleck in January 2004, Lopez began dating long-time friend Marc Anthony. The couple wed that June. . I only do what my gut tells me to. I think it's smart to listen to other people's advice, but at the end of the day, you’re the only one who can tell you what's right for you.
I grew up in the Bronx where you would stay up late with your girlfriends, just being silly in our bedrooms, whatever. And I was always the clown.
I can only speak for myself, and hope people hear my words and see me on television speaking for myself. And, hopefully, they'll be able to make their own judgment. And at the end of the day, I just want my work to speak for itself.
The bottom line is that musicians love to makemusic and always will.
It's a shame to call somebody a 'diva' simply becausethey work harder than everybody else.
When you have children, you realise you can't plan anything. There's no Plan A, no Plan B. Life will happen and you will go with it.
I just think that the whole diva thing is a misrepresentation of who I am.
I am a lover. And with my kids I am even softer. I realize with my son, I have to sometimes be tough, especially now when he's pushing boundaries. With my daughter, I can get a little stern with her and she pretty much will listen.
I feel I want to grow as an actress and be better. I want to progress as a singer and songwriter, and produce movies and everything. So there'll be no time when I feelI've done it all.
